May I extend a warm welcome to you, from all of us at Garth Primary School.
At Garth we believe in giving every child the opportunity to reach their full potential within a happy and caring environment. We try to instil confidence, develop self esteem and independence in our pupils so they can go forward believing in themselves and feeling ready to tackle what lies ahead of them.
As a ‘Rights Respecting School’, we are committed to promoting the values and principles of The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. It is at the heart of our school’s planning, policies, practice and ethos. As a ‘Rights Respecting School’ we teach about children’s rights and model rights and respect in all relationships.
We firmly believe that every child has a ‘right to learn and go to school’ (Article 28) and a ‘right to be the best they can be’. (Article 29).
We offer a rich and exciting curriculum and endeavour to meet the differing needs of all learners. We offer a wide range of extra curricular activities which include sport, music and ICT. We place great emphasis on educational visits to enhance our curriculum and provide opportunities for our children’s ‘voices’ to be heard through our active School Council, Eco Committee and Sports Council.
We are committed to raising standards across the curriculum, particularly in numeracy and literacy. We have been recognised as a ‘Healthy School’ and we were thrilled to be the first school in Bridgend to gain ECO-SCHOOL status . In 2013, we received a ‘Platinum Green Flag’ for sustained effort and commitment to environmental issues.
We were delighted to achieve the ‘Investors in Families’ award and ‘Rights Respecting Schools’ status.
We hope your child will take full advantage of what we have to offer and will enter into the full life of the school by taking part in the activities available.
Together we can provide the best possible education for your children.
